Marvin Scott

FOUNDER | CEO

 

Marvin is a design thinker, strategist, innovation consultant and storyteller who earned a BA from Hunter College in cross cultural literature, history and political science. He went on to receive an MS in Organizational Change Mgmt at The Milano School for International Affairs, Mgmt, and Urban Policy at The New School University in New York and is well-versed in brand strategy, business development and corporate philanthropy. Most of his career has been in entertainment, finance and social impact work and now he's combined all three under a new moniker of social investor.

Fundamentally he develops new ventures and manages the various steps to lift off.. fostering collaborations, developing parameters and frameworks, and supporting talent and leadership. He also manages projects within the ventures or for individual clients. As an advisor/entrepreneur growing a practice in the regenerative (evergreen) economy he packages strategies, new technologies and talent for solutions through a new venture called Bayla Energy. He packages content and manages brand marketing and experiences as an executive producer, marketer and media / entertainment creative from Sony Music, Home Box Office and his former production company, Steelpetal. He is currently developing projects under a growing media venture called Gravy Media. 

He learns, explores, and experiences culture, new ideology and innovation to feed his life and work. And he believes in God and embraces the journey into deep faith with laughter, wisdom and joy.

Khalid Smith

Khalid is an experienced marketing and brand manager, startup founder, community-builder, social entrepreneur, engineer, educator and facilitator that has found his purpose in growing communities dedicated to equitable outcomes for all. Khalid is cofounder of the Academy of Future Health Professionals, a network of parents, students and black medical professionals seeking to create a pipeline of world-class black health professionals improving outcomes for black communities.

Khalid is cofounder of Lessoncast Learning, a professional development firm that helps school districts operationalize their plans for equity and inclusion with research and adult learning-theory backed practices for putting equity-related professional learning into classroom practice. Khalid holds a BS degree from the University of Virginia in Chemical Engineering and an MS in Applied Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. Khalid has been married to T. Nicole Tucker Smith, CEO and co-founder of Lessoncast Learning, for 19 years. They have two amazing children and make Baltimore, Maryland home.

Sebastian brings strategy and finance experience. At the UN, he advised on economic and infrastructure best practices. He started his career at Anglo American, a global resources company.

Rich Cotter is the strategic partner for hotel acquisitions and operations for SEP. As a hospitality executive, he opened Wynn Las Vegas as EVP of Hotel and Food & Beverage Operations and launched the St. Regis brand worldwide. While leading operations of The St. Regis New York, he re-positioned the Lespinasse restaurant to 4-Stars in the New York Times. He subsequently managed thirty-seven hotels as Regional VP of Mid-Atlantic States for Starwood Hotels and Resorts, including the opening of W Times Square and Westin Times Square.

 

Russ Dazzio

Mr. Dazzio  leads the distressed asset acquisition and hotel reposition strategy for SEP. As CEO of R&R Hospitality and Gaming, he navigated a course that took R&R to a #1 ranking by Hotel Business Magazine as the fastest growing independent hotel management company in America and made a name among lending institutions as the “go to operator” they could trust to quickly turn around distressed assets.
